Ambre Babzoe

Ambre Babzoe, the designer behind the name of the label, is strongly influenced by the variety of cultures she grew up with.

As a student, she planned to become a journalist, having successfully completed sociological and ethnological studies at Sorbonne University. However, Ambre is not the type of person to follow the well-drawn path. A traveller at heart, she left to discover new worlds, visiting Brazil the Antilles, Arizona, then Tahiti, St. Dominguez, India and Mauritius. In 200, while preparing to visit South East Asian tribes, Ambre created a small jewelry line to fund her trip. The success of this jewelry line diverts her. L´eclaireur, one of the most prestigious Parisian fashion shops, is charmed by the range.

This first collection genuinely combined modernity and ethnic influences. Away from folklore, Ambre’s designs showed Zen shapes, brushed silver, with wise toughs carved onto them. All are marked by a chic simplicity, a near primitive design, which instantly charmed the French and international gurus.

Her craving for discovery drove her to Bali where she settled in 2000. She opened a jewelry workshop, and carried by the artistic energy and richness of the Island, she began making clothes for women and children. These collection pieces include clothes, handbags and shoes, and are fully handmade. As this prêt a porter activity grew, with it came success.
